Oregon National Guard members take part in Albany Veterans Day events
ALBANY, Ore. - Thousands of spectators turned out on a cloudy afternoon to watch the 71st annual Linn County Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11, 2022. The parade, which is one of the biggest on the west coast, included over 150 entries, plus an additional 500 motorcycles which led the parade route. Oregon National Guard Brig. Gen. Mark Crosby, Assistant Adjutant General for Air, observed Soldiers and Airmen participating in the parade that included a joint color guard, marching units, the 234th Army Band, military vehicles and equipment, and an F-15 Eagle flyover to begin the event.
“The Albany parade is a phenomenal event; it’s what America is all about, and participating in this as a service member makes each of us feel good and why we appreciate why we serve,” said Crosby.
On Nov. 10, 2022, Oregon National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Michael E. Stencel, was the keynote speaker for the Albany Veteran of the Year Banquet, which honors local and state veterans at the Linn County Expo Center.
