Monday, Governor Tina Kotek toured Blazer Industries’ modular homes factory in Aumsville. The modular homes, which are at various phases of construction, will be headed to a wildfire recovery project in Lane County.
“We simply need more homes to address Oregon’s housing crisis, and modular housing is a part of the solution,” Governor Kotek said. “I am eager to see this innovative development deliver real results for Oregonians displaced by the Holiday Farm Fire, and I believe this is a model we can replicate for recovery housing in the years to come.”
The modular homes in the tour will be part of the rebuilding of the McKenzie Lazy Days Mobile Home and RV Park, whose residents were displaced during the Holiday Farm Fire in 2020. The project to rebuild will include community open space, amenities, 20 Modular Homes, and 10 Park Model RVs. The project is funded in part by $9.9 million allocated by the Legislature in 2021.
Blazer Industries is also one of four recipients of the Modular Housing Development Fund (MHDF), grant money made available in House Bill 2001 (2023). Blazer Industries projects that the $5 million state grant will boost their production by approximately 50 to 100 additional residential homes per year, to a total of 250 to 300 per year. They will prioritize wildfire disaster recovery units first, followed by ongoing production of units for lower and middle income homeowners.
