Salem, OR — Today, Governor Tina Kotek ordered all flags at Oregon public institutions to be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on September 11, 2026, in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 civilians and first responders who were killed in the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Governor Kotek issued the following statement in remembrance of 9/11:

“Today marks 25 years since the horrifying events of September 11th, a day that changed our country and the lives of so many Americans. As we observe the lowering of our nation’s flag, we remember those who lost their lives and support the loved ones who continue to carry that loss. We honor the courage and selflessness of the first responders and all those who stepped forward to help when the moment needed them. Let’s carry the spirit of courage and community forward and find strength in unity over division.”
