Governor Tina Kotek announced the launch of the Global Trade Desk to assist businesses exploring new opportunities for international trade and investment.
“While the Trump Administration continues to roll out unlawful tariffs that tax American companies and working families, Oregon is making sure more businesses here have the tools they need to succeed,” Governor Kotek said. “Trade is essential to Oregon’s economy, and it’s more important than ever that Oregon businesses have a direct line of communication with trade experts. The Global Trade Desk reflects Oregon’s continued and innovative progress on maintaining our competitive edge in international trade.”
Oregon companies with fewer than 100 employees represent about 98% of businesses in Oregon, and the Global Trade Desk is now available to help smaller businesses access export revenue, which hit $28 billion statewide last year. These companies are often without dedicated staff focused on expanding to new markets.
The Global Trade Desk within Business Oregon serves as a single point-of-contact that works with businesses at every stage of their exporting or investment journey, providing personalized support and advice, including specialized guidance for businesses looking to enter global markets for the first time or expanding their international business.
“International trade can open tremendous opportunities for Oregon businesses, but navigating global markets can feel complex, especially for companies exporting for the first time,” Business Oregon Director Sophorn Cheang said. “The Global Trade Desk creates a more accessible, connected, and responsive approach that helps Oregon companies tap into the expertise and guidance they need to grow their business internationally.”
The new Global Trade Desk fits in with a suite of services Business Oregon provides to help Oregon companies grow sales in foreign markets, including matching grants, trade events, and promotional support.
The Global Trade Desk can be reached via email at globaltradedesk@biz.oregon.gov or via phone at 503-229-5009. Businesses can expect a response from a subject matter expert within 24 hours on business days.
