Governor Kate Brown Orders Flags to Remain at Half-Staff in Recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day
On Sunday, May 15, flags already at half-staff will also honor Peace Officers Memorial Day
Governor Kate Brown today ordered that flags already flying at half-staff at Oregon public institutions on Sunday, May 15, shall also honor Peace Officers Memorial Day. This is a day set aside every year during National Police Week (May 11-17, 2022) to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
"Peace Officers Memorial Day pays tribute to fallen officers at all levels of law enforcement, including local, state, federal, tribal, and military law enforcement,” said Governor Brown. "We honor the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and Dan and I are keeping their families, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers in our thoughts."
The Governor's previous order is still in effect through sunset, Monday, May 16 in memory of the 1,000,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19.
The full Presidential Proclamation is available at the White House website.
