Governor Kate Brown Details Support for Oregon Environmental Protection Act
Governor Kate Brown testified today in support of HB2250, the Oregon Environmental Protection Act.
"Over the past two years Oregonians have witnessed an unprecedented and aggressive attack on clean air standards, clean water standards, and federal effort to fight climate change," said Governor Brown. "In Oregon that rollback stops now. Under my leadership, Oregon will stand for clean air and clean water, and will defend the health of our children and our children's children.
The Oregon Environmental Protection Act prevents federal rollbacks of landmark environmental laws from impacting Oregonians. Since their passage of the 1970s, the protective standards of the federal Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Safe Drinking Water Act has reflected progress in science and protected people. For the first time in history, these standards are being rolled back and the country now faces threats to the basic underpinnings of environmental protections that two generations of Americans have relied upon.
