Governor Brown Solicits Applicants to Fill Wheeler County Judge Vacancy
Governor Kate Brown received today a notice that the Secretary of State has recognized a vacancy in the office of Wheeler County Judge. This vacancy was occasioned by the special recall election held on August 15, 2016, which resulted in an affirmative majority vote in favor of the recall of the official who previously occupied the office. The Secretary of State issued a proclamation, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzMvBq_LbaUUUDFwXzlMY1FWa1k/view recognizing the affirmative majority vote of recall. Pursuant to ORS 236.210, http://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/236.210 Governor Brown intends to fill this vacancy by appointment as provided in Article V, Section 16 of the Oregon Constitution. Notwithstanding this appointment, the position of Wheeler County Judge will appear for election on the November 2016 ballot.
Governor Brown will fill this vacancy based on merit and encourages applications from Wheeler County citizens with a diversity of backgrounds and experiences.
