Description

May inspect building sewers from five feet outside the building to the disposal terminal or connection with the main sewer line. Requires an Oregon Inspector Certification.

Duration

Three years; renews with the OIC.

A renewal notice will be mailed to the licensee approximately six weeks prior to the expiration of their license. Fees will be explained on the renewal form. Renewal fees vary by license type.

Prerequisites

Core qualifications

An individual seeking this code certification must first obtain the Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC). In addition, one of the following must be met:

​Two years of experience performing building permit inspections or plan reviews for or on behalf of a jurisdiction
OR
A bachelor's or master's degree in architecture or engineering; or be a certified architect or engineer​

Specific qualifications

In addition to the core qualifications, the individual must also have one of the following:

An Oregon Journeyman Plumber license
OR
Two years of experience in sewer design, installation, or inspection
OR
Any combination of experience and training equivalent to the two options above

Required Documentation

Completed application with applicable fee
Copy of high school diploma, GED or equivalent
Copy of apprenticeship completion (if required by license type)
Experience qualification documents (if required by license type)
Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC)

Examination Information

Three-hour, 52 question open book. Upon approval, a list will be provided outlining approved exam material.

Continuing Education Requirements

Varies by Certification. Continuing education requirements are dependent on code changes.
