Description
A telecommunicator is any person employed as an emergency telephone worker or a public safety dispatcher whose primary duties are receiving, processing and transmitting public safety information received through a 9-1-1 emergency report system.

Lapses 1 year/Expires 5 years after employment.

Prerequisites and Requirements
Prerequisites
Pre-employment: High school diploma or GED; Meet minimum physical standards; Completion of an agency-defined academic proficiency test; Meet moral fitness standards.
Pre-certification: Is employed by a public safety agencies; Holds current first aid/CPR certification; Successful completion of a DPSST Basic Telecommunictors Course; Successful completion of required Field Training; Completion of a Code of Ethics.

12 hours of training annually, including 1 hour of ethics training.
