The following is a statement from Oregon Secretary of State LaVonne Griffin-Valade about the Oregon Audits Division’s performance audit of the Department of Environmental Quality:

“Strategic planning comes up so often in government audits because it’s a highly effective tool to ensure resources are being strategically used to carry out an agency’s mission. The Governor’s expectations for agencies to engage in strategic planning underscores this fact. By implementing the recommendations in this report, DEQ can ensure its strategic planning efforts serve the agency’s goal to adopt anti-racist principles.”
