Beaverton Among Recipients of “Excellence on Main” Awards
Oregon Main Street announced its 2023 “Excellence on Main” award winners on October 4 during the Opening Session of the Main Street conference in Independence. Created in 2010, the annual Excellence on Main awards honor outstanding accomplishments, activities, and people making a difference in historic downtowns and traditional commercial neighborhoods across the state. A total of 9 projects, activities, and people were recognized. The Beaverton Downtown Association received the Outstanding Promotion Award.
2023 Outstanding Promotion Award: Boba Dash, Beaverton.

The Beaverton Downtown Association (BDA) has been honored with the 2023 Outstanding Promotion award for their dynamic event, Boba Dash. This accolade celebrates BDA's ingenuity in fostering community engagement, attracting targeted audiences, and bolstering business involvement. By seamlessly integrating 12 pop-up bubble tea shops and four established tea establishments within downtown businesses, Boba Dash not only showcased the vibrant essence of Beaverton but also supported local BIPOC and AAIP vendors and artisans. Quotes from businesses participating in Boba Dash:
Lisa Tran- "Tan Tan means New Beginnings and our family’s new beginning began in Beaverton over two decades ago. We are so honored to witness the transformation of our beautiful Downtown and participate with events such as the Beaverton Boba Dash, which introduced many folks to our community! We are excited to continue celebrating a New Beginning in Downtown Beaverton! "

Stacey Kwong- "Boba Dash was a huge success this year thanks to the Beaverton Downtown Association. I’m honored to be a part of it and I can’t wait to get #bobawasted again next year!"

In addition to the Excellence on Main Awards, Josh Johnson, co-founder of Binary Brewing, was acknowledged with a Standout Volunteer certificate for his volunteer efforts on behalf of the Beaverton Downtown Association and the community. He was among four other individuals recognized. Soon after opening, Josh became a leader in the downtown community. He is currently the co-chair of the Beaverton Downtown Association’s economic vitality committee, and has been key leader of the upcoming Beaverton Lager Festival and the successful Best Day Beaverton Family Bike Ride. In addition, he has contributed greatly to the community through donations to local charities and hosting events. If there is an opportunity for Josh to lean in and help his fellow businesses or community, he does not hesitate.
