Firefighters have achieved five percent containment on the Wrights Spring Fire in Klamath County as the blaze grew to 52,531 acres two miles west of Sprague River. There are 761 personnel assigned to the incident, which was first detected on August 5.

Operational progress continued through Tuesday night as crews patrolled the northern end of the fire and secured the 1119 road on the southeast edge. Teams reinforced containment lines from Horton Reservoir to Bliss Road and suppressed spot fires northeast of Swan Lake Rim. On Wednesday, firefighters are prioritizing the construction of contingency lines southeast of the fire to block movement toward Bly Mountain. Teams are also working to establish fire lines from Swan Lake Mountain to Bliss Road, with support from both fixed-wing and rotary aircraft.
Structure protection remains a central focus in the Yonna Woods and Bly Mountain areas. Crews are working to improve defensibility around homes and critical infrastructure while monitoring for shifts in fire behavior. Weather conditions are expected to remain warm, dry, and breezy through Thursday, with valley temperatures reaching the low 90s and humidity levels between 19 and 22 percent.

Red Cross shelters for people and small animals are open at the following locations:
- Chiloquin Elementary School: 548 S 2nd Ave, Chiloquin.
- Living Springs Fellowship: 31897 Mission St., Bonanza.
For large animals, owners should contact Maria Meister with Southern Oregon Emergency Aid (SOEA) at 831-235-3031 to arrange sheltering at the Klamath County Fairgrounds.
Several road closures are in place to support emergency traffic, including Sprague River Road from milepost 9 to Sprague River Drive and Bliss Road from Petersteiner Road to Sprague River. Members of the Oregon Air National Guard's 173rd Fighter Wing are assisting with these closures to ensure safe access for firefighting operations. An emergency closure also remains in effect for portions of the Fremont-Winema National Forest.
