Firefighters are continuing extensive mop‑up, grid searches, and patrols as they work to strengthen and secure control lines across the incident. These efforts are essential for cooling remaining hot spots and reinforcing containment. High‑line operations near Crane Prairie, just north of Bonney Meadows, are also progressing through steep 80‑degree slopes. This will allow crews to navigate this challenging terrain to reduce remaining fuels, construct additional fire line, and improve access routes for firefighters. These combined actions are helping to further stabilize the incident and support safer, more efficient operations moving forward.

Cooperative efforts continue to drive steady progress on the fire, strengthening protection around homes and critical infrastructure. Oregon State Fire Marshal structural crews continue to aggressively mop up around homes, with heat detections becoming fewer each day. The increase in containment reflects confidence in the work completed, with crews establishing greater depth around structures and reducing the potential threat to homes.

Dry, warm weather will continue across the area, with some increasing afternoon instability. Winds will be lighter than yesterday and mainly influenced by local terrain during the day, then shift to a northwesterly direction by late afternoon and evening. A dry, cold front is forecast to move through late Friday into Saturday, bringing a small chance of thunderstorms and a period of stronger west‑to‑northwest winds. Conditions are expected to return to seasonal norms afterward.

Smoke will remain visible in communities east and southeast of the fire as winds continue to move smoke away from the fire area. A smoke outlook is available at https://outlooks.airfire.org/outlook/50aab846. Find the latest about air quality at https://fire.airnow.gov/.
