OEM Participates in Governor’s Annual Government-to-Government Summit with Oregon’s Tribal Nations

Oregon Department of Emergency Management staff members Seiji Shiratori, Legislative Coordinator and Strategic Communications & Partnership Manager, and Sophi Beym, Tribal Liaison, joined Governor Tina Kotek and state agency directors for the Governor’s Annual Government-to-Government Summit.
The two-day summit brings together leaders from Oregon’s nine federally recognized Tribal Nations and state government representatives to strengthen partnerships, deepen understanding, and reaffirm Oregon’s commitment to meaningful collaboration.

“This gathering reaffirms the government-to-government relationship between Tribal nations and the State of Oregon,” said OEM Tribal Liaison Sophi Beym. “Connecting with Tribal and state leaders to strengthen support for one another is important, now more than ever, as we face complex challenges that affect us all.”
The summit provided an opportunity for open dialogue on shared priorities and cross-jurisdictional issues, including emergency management coordination, public safety, and community resilience.

OEM thanks all participating Tribal and state leaders and our Governor for hosting a productive and engaging summit that continues to build stronger relationships in service to all Oregonians.
