2025 Machinery and Equipment Tax Exemption Program for Food Processors

The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) reminds food processors about the Oregon Food Processing Machinery and Equipment Property Tax Exemption Program for the 2024 tax year.

This program offers a valuable property tax exemptions for machinery and equipment used in essential food processing activities, helping you reduce costs while expanding operations. Eligible machinery and equipment used in the following processes may qualify for the exemption:

  • Blanchers
  • Peelers
  • Freezers
  • Dicers
  • Conveyers
  • Huskers
  • Sorting equipment
  • Filling equipment
  • Smokers
  • Packaging equipment

The exemption covers machinery for a wide range of food products, including fresh produce, seafood, grains, dairy, meats, and more. To support you in taking advantage of this program, ODA provides guidance to assess equipment eligibility and assist with the application process.

Important Dates:

  • Request forms available: January 1, 2025
  • Optimal submission period: Early January to ensure timely scheduling and certification.
  • Late submission: Forms submitted and inspected after March 1, 2025, will incur a late fee.
