Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on April 22 in Hermiston
Oregon residents may dispose of a wide variety of household hazardous waste and E-Cycles items for free from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 22 at Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center, 1705 E. Airport Road in Hermiston.
Common items to be collected include aerosol cans, antifreeze, engine cleaners, fluorescent tubes, herbicides, household batteries, mercury products, motor oil, paint, pesticides, solvents, thermometers, weed killers and wood preservatives. These items should be kept in their original containers if possible. Additionally, E-Cycles will be collecting computers, monitors, TVs, printers, keyboards and mice for free. Persons should not bring pharmaceuticals, ammunition, explosives or products that contain radioactive waste, such as smoke detectors, or e-waste not specifically listed above.
Agricultural pesticide waste from businesses, ranches and farms will be accepted free of charge on Friday, April 21. Small businesses generating hazardous waste may qualify for a significantly reduced fee if the business generates less than 220 pounds or ½ drum monthly (equivalent to about five drums or 2200 pounds annually).
Pre-registration by Friday, April 14 is required for agricultural pesticide waste and small business waste disposal. To pre-register, call 503-310-1393 or email simpson.taylor@cleanharbors.com.
