DEQ to hold public meeting Tuesday, May 17 on odor-reduction agreement with AmeriTies-West in The Dalles
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public meeting to share information on an odor reduction agreement signed with AmeriTies-West to reduce odors in The Dalles. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 in the Lecture Hall in Building 2 of Columbia Gorge Community College, 400 East Scenic Drive in The Dalles.
AmeriTies West manufactures railroad ties using a creosote mixture at 100 Tie Plant Road. The enforceable agreement contains steps the company will take to reduce odors, including best work practices, odor-control measures and enforceable milestones. The agreement requires the company to evaluate odor-reduction actions and report back to DEQ on how successful the action was in reducing odors.
