DEQ issues $17,400 penalty to Pacific Foods of Oregon, Inc., for wastewater discharge into Hedges Creek Wetland
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued a $17,400 penalty to Pacific Foods of Oregon, Inc., for unpermitted discharges of wastewater into Hedges Creek Wetland from the company's food processing operation located at 19550 SW 97th Ave, Tualatin.
DEQ issued the penalty because of unpermitted discharges of soy milk and processed food waste water on or about Jan. 28, 2016 and April 25, 2016 into the adjacent Hedges Creek Wetland. The discharge of the wastewater through a stormwater system and directly into the wetland created a risk of harm to fish and other aquatic life.
Pacific Foods of Oregon, Inc., has appealed the penalty.
