DEQ fines The Truss Company and Building Supply Inc. for stormwater violations
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined The Truss Company and Building Supply Inc. $9,017 for failing to comply with the monitoring requirements of its stormwater discharge permit at its Airport Road facility.
DEQ issued the penalty because the company failed to perform required monitoring in 2014 and because it only sampled two of the required four times during the 2015-2016 monitoring year. The monitoring year runs from July 1 to June 30.
DEQ requires permit holders to monitor stormwater discharges and file regular reports. Without such monitoring and reporting, it is not possible to determine whether proper controls are in place to protect water quality and public health.
The company has appealed the penalty.
