DEQ fines Portland tire recycler $10,800 for stormwater violations
Post Featured Image
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined Ultimate RB Inc., doing business as RB Recycling Inc., $10,800 for failing to monitor stormwater for pollutants at its north Portland tire recycling facility. Stormwater from the facility drains into the Willamette River. DEQ requires the company to monitor its stormwater for copper, lead and other pollutants to ensure it is complying with pollution levels allowed in its permit. DEQ also cited the company, without penalty, for failing to submit the required name change application to DEQ within 30 days of the merger between RB Recycling Inc. and Ultimate RB Inc. Industrial pollutants in stormwater can contaminate streams, rivers and other waterways and threaten the health of Oregon's people and environment.
