DEQ fines Minority Abatement Contractors for asbestos violations at three locations
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined Minority Abatement Contractors of Vancouver, Washington $1,680 for failing to submit air clearance sample results to DEQ within 30 days of completing an asbestos abatement project.
The violations occurred at: 103 SW Memorial Place and 1800 SW Campus Way (Both in Corvallis on the Oregon State University campus) and at a home at 1406 SE Melrose Avenue, McMinnville.
The fine followed previous warnings from DEQ to the company for failing to submit air clearance sample results on time. The asbestos abatement at the university locations took place in January and February 2016 and the work at the McMinnville home took place in February 2016. The company submitted sample results to DEQ for all three sites in April 2016.
The company has until July 5, 2015 to appeal the penalty.
