DEQ fines Grants Pass man for solid waste violations
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined Anthony Allen Hoover of Grants Pass $500 for illegally disposing of about two cubic yards of household garbage and other waste in a pit at his Grants Pass property.
DEQ warned Hoover about illegal dumps in the past. Illegal dumps threaten human health by attracting insects and rodents. Such dumps can also pollute ground and surface water.
Hoover has until June 13 to appeal the penalty.
