DEQ Announces New Hires, Next Step in Building Leadership Team
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality today announced that it has hired two new members of its management team. Nancy Bennett is the new Policy and External Affairs Manager. And Donnie Oliveira is the agency’s new Communications and Outreach Manager.
Bennett has devoted her career to public service and most recently served as Chief of Staff for Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury. With local, state and federal experience in government, Bennett is well-versed in the challenges and opportunities facing DEQ. She will join DEQ on February 20.
For the past five years, Oliveira has managed outreach and communications for San Francisco’s Department of the Environment, where he led a team to develop the city’s environmental vision and strengthen community involvement. Among other accomplishments, Oliveira co-authored San Francisco’s 2013 Climate Action Strategy. Oliveira will start on March 19.
“With their breadth of knowledge and experience in engaging communities and partners, Nancy Bennett and Donnie Oliveira will help DEQ re-establish the agency as a leader in protecting Oregon’s air, water and land,” said DEQ Director Richard Whitman.
