Cleaner Air Oregon Advisory Committee to hold third meeting Thursday, Dec. 8 in Portland
Diverse stakeholder committee continues discussions on air toxics regulatory overhaul
The Cleaner Air Oregon Advisory Committee will hold the third of six meetings on Dec. 8 in Portland to continue addressing Oregon's air toxics regulatory reform. The committee's role is to provide advice to state regulators and health experts on more than twenty policy decisions as the agencies re-write state air toxics regulations.
At Thursday's meeting, the Advisory Committee will hear technical briefings and provide input on key topics in the regulatory overhaul, including:
- Screening and risk assessment, including where cumulative risks should be included in an air toxics permitting program.
- Implementation of air toxics permitting program to ensure health air quality for all of Oregon's communities.
- Advisory Committee comments on Nov. 17, 2016 meeting.
The briefings will highlight options for rules to consider impacts to sensitive populations, such as children and the elderly, people with low income, and communities of color. The Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality formed the advisory committee as part of the Cleaner Air Oregon initiative Governor Kate Brown announced on April 6, 2016.
