$1,800 penalty issued to Portland heating oil tank servicer for unreported release
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued a $1,800 civil penalty to Environmental Works, LLC, for failing to report a release from a heating oil tank located at 7710 N. Jersey St., Portland, OR. The company discovered the release in November 2016 but did not report the release until February 2017.
DEQ issued the penalty because of the potential dangers to the environment and to human health associated with heating oil tank releases. This is the second violation in two years, and a warning letter was issued to the company after the first violation.
