Oregon.gov makes list of best state websites for second year in a row
Oregon.gov is one of the top 10 most intuitive and functional state websites, according to the Center for Digital Government's 2015 Best of the Web awards announced this month. This marks the second year in a row Oregon has made the cut.
"These winners are recognized for responsive and mobile-first design, open government, open data, improved transparency and integration with social media," said Todd Sander, executive director of the Center for Digital Government. "Congratulations to the awardees for their impressive work to make government more accessible and responsive to citizens"
Praise was offered for the mobile-first approach and resulting increase in mobile traffic. The center also recognized engagement with Oregon's disabled community to increase access for all. In addition, the state received kudos for use of an Instagram hashtag campaign (#MyOregon). Residents can tag pictures of Oregon's natural beauty and see a selection of those pictures displayed on Oregon.gov. New pictures are displayed monthly.
Oregon E-Government Program Manager, Wally Rogers, noted, "To achieve this award two years in a row affirms our team is on the right track by asking residents of our state to help us design a site that is more usable for all Oregonians. "
About the Oregon E-Government Program
The Oregon E-Government Program was established through Governor's Office Executive Order in 2001 and is administered by the Department of Administrative Services. The Oregon Legislature further supported the program by enacting legislation in 2011 that established an Electronic Portal Advisory Board to advance the effectiveness and delivery of new online services to the public. The program works with Oregon government organizations, helping them to conduct state business online and improve public access to government information.
