Oregon Employees’ Charitable Fund Drive kicks off Sept. 5
Governor Kate Brown declares official Oregon Employees’ Charitable Fund Drive Day
State and university employees do something amazing every fall. They transform into philanthropists, with the help of the State of Oregon Employees’ Charitable Fund Drive – a combined charitable giving campaign that benefits Oregon’s health, families, environment, human rights, education, and arts and culture. Each September, thousands of employees join forces through the Fund Drive to support more than 750 Oregon nonprofits with their hard-earned money. Together, they donated more than $784,000 last year—and they want to raise even more this year. To aid in this effort, Governor Brown has declared September 5, 2018, to be Oregon Employees’ Charitable Fund Drive Day with an official proclamation. Any state or university employee who wants to support a favorite nonprofit with an easy payroll contribution can visit ecfd.oregon.gov to get started. The Charitable Fund Drive has raised more than $26.8 million since 1989. The Fund Drive gives state employees access to charitable giving through a payroll deduction; 100 percent of all employee donations are passed on to umbrella nonprofit organizations. Expenses are always less than 10 percent of the funds raised, and those costs are paid by the umbrella organizations in the Fund Drive. The umbrella organizations (together representing more than 750 charities) in the 2018 Charitable Fund Drive are: America’s Best Local Charities, Black United Fund of Oregon, Children’s Trust Fund of Oregon, Community Health Charities, EarthShare Oregon, Habitat for Humanity of Oregon, MRG Foundation, Oregon Coalition against Domestic and Sexual Violence, the Regional Arts and Culture Council’s Impact Fund (formerly Work for Art) and 15 United Ways throughout Oregon.
