Description

A manufactured home construction inspector conducts field and manufactured plant inspections, reviews plans, and provides technical services for manufactured dwelling manufacturers, dealers, and owners. A Manufactured home includes residential trailer, mobile home, manufactured dwelling, and manufactured structure. Requires an Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC).

A renewal notice will be mailed to the licensee approximately six weeks prior to the expiration of their license.

Prerequisites

Core qualifications

An individual seeking this code certification must first obtain the Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC)​. In addition, one of the following must be met:

​Two years of experience performing building permit inspections or plan reviews for or on behalf of a jurisdiction
OR
A bachelor's or master's degree in architecture or engineering; or be a certified architect or engineer​

Individuals who do not meet one of the above qualifications may instead complete a code certification training course administered by the division. (If hired by a municipality, this requirement must be met within six months of hire)​​​

Specific qualifications

To qualify using inspection experience you must have one of the following:

Two years of experience as a certified building inspector or plans examiner
OR
Two years of experience as a quality control inspector in a manufactured structures plant

To qualify using trade experience you must have one of the following:

Two years of experience as a supervisor in the building construction industry
OR
Two years of experience in design work related to building construction

To qualify using education and training, you must have one of the following:

An associate degree or its equivalent from a division-approved education program in a construction-related field
OR
A one-year certificate of completion in building inspection technology from a division-approved education program and completion of 800 hours working under the supervision of a person with a minimum of three years of experience as a certified manufactured structure construction inspector or a person approved by the board.

Examination Information

Three-hour, 75 question open book. Upon approval, a list will be provided outlining approved exam material.

Varies by Certification. Continuing education requirements are dependent on code changes.
