Description
        Maintain, repair, and replace electrical appliances, light switches and fixtures, fans, receptacles, and fluorescent ballasts on the premises of commercial office buildings, buildings occupied by the state or a local government entity, and facilities designated by the Electrical and Elevator Board in electrical systems not exceeding 300 volts to ground.
    
    
        
Duration
        License renewal is every three years on October 1.
    
    
        
Renewal Information
        A renewal notice will be mailed to the licensee approximately six weeks prior to the expiration of their license. Continuing Education (if necessary) and fees will be explained on the renewal form. Renewal fees vary by license type.
    
    
        
Duplicate License Requirements
        If you lost your license or have changed your address and would like a replacement license, submit form 2523 from Building Codes website, along with appropriate $10 fee.
    
    
 
Prerequisites and Requirements
    
Prerequisites
    (1) Completion of an approved one-year training program in Oregon.
OR
(2) Verification of 2,000 hours of on-the-job training or experience in maintenance, repair, and replacement of electrical appliances, light switches, light fixtures, fans, receptacles, and fluorescent ballasts (300 percent rule applies).

Copy of high school diploma, GED or equivalent
Copy of apprenticeship completion (if required by license type)
    
Examination Information
    2 hour 28 question open book. Upon approval, a list will be provided outlining approved exam material.

    Exempt from continuing education requirements.
