Description

May weld on boilers, pressure vessels or pressure piping while employed by an approved welding employer. Work may only be performed under the supervision of a person licensed in CL4, CL5, CL5A, and CL5B. More than one welder may be supervised by one qualified person under this license.

Duration

License renewal is every three years on July 1.

Renewal Information

A renewal notice will be mailed to the licensee approximately six weeks prior to the expiration of their license. Continuing Education (if necessary) and fees will be explained on the renewal form. Renewal fees vary by license type

Duplicate License Requirements

If you lost your license or have changed your address and would like a replacement license, submit form 2523 from Building Codes website, along with appropriate $10 fee.

Prerequisites and Requirements

Prerequisites

Provide a written statement from the employer that the applicant is currently qualified as a welder certified under American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessels Code Section IX part QW;
AND
Currently qualified to the employer’s welding procedures.

Copy of apprenticeship completion (if required by license type)
Experience qualification documents (if required by license type)
