Description

A chiropractic physician licensed in Oregon who wishes to practice natural childbirth must apply to and receive from the Board a certification of special competency in natural childbirth. To receive and maintain certification, the applicant must fulfill the requirements as identified in Oregon Administrative Rule 811-015-0030 (4).

Every three years licensee must complete additional education to maintain certification.

Prerequisites

Required Documentation

a signed log showing evidence that requirements #1 and #2 above have been completed under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner with specialty training in obstetrics and/or natural childbirth.

Examination Information

Pass a certification exam in obstetrics given by or approved by the Board.

Continuing Education Requirements

15 hours annually, and every other year an approved class in neonatal resuscitation shall be part of this continuing education requirement.

Other Information

Chiropractors may license as a direct entry midwife. Also, any Oregon licensed chiropractor/naturopath certified in natural childbirth, may also practice obstetrics ... to the extent allowed by ORS 684.
