Prerequisites

Must be at least 18 years of age, affiliated with a public or private fire service agency, must pass a fingerprint background investigation (disqualifying criminal convictions can be found in OAR 259-009-0120: https://secure.sos.state.or.us/oard/displayDivisionRules.action?selectedDivision=823)

DPSST Fire Certification as a fire service professional in Oregon is voluntary. While some fire service agencies require fire service professionals to earn and maintain certification, it is not required by state law.
