Description
Manufactured structure trip permits are needed to transport manufactured structures (such as homes or prefabricated houses) on public roads and highways. Each unit of the structure must have a separate trip permit.
Transportation of the structure must be completed by a licensed transporter. Trip permits are issued through the Oregon Manufactured Home Ownership records system (referred to as LOIS). Generally, trip permits are purchased at the county jurisdiction level through the assessor/taxation office, although some transporters may have LOIS system access to purchase permits online. The Oregon Building Codes Division, which administers the LOIS system, will not process a trip permit transaction unless it has been first submitted to a county assessor's office.
These trip permits do not authorize operation of loads that exceed legal highway limits. Any movement over the highway of a manufactured structure that exceeds the legal highway limits (including all structures over 8 1/2 feet in width) must be covered by a special transportation permit.
