Description

Perform limited energy electrical activity that does not include protective signaling (An LEB must be licensed as an electrical contractor, or must work for an electrical contractor, limited energy contractor, or for one employer in an industrial plant.)

Duration

License renewal is every three years on October 1.

Renewal Information

A renewal notice will be mailed to the licensee approximately six weeks prior to the expiration of their license. Continuing Education (if necessary) and fees will be explained on the renewal form. Renewal fees vary by license type.

Duplicate License Requirements

If you lost your license or have changed your address and would like a replacement license, submit form 2523 from Building Codes website, along with appropriate $10 fee.

Prerequisites and Requirements

Prerequisites

(1) Completion of an approved apprenticeship in Oregon.
OR
(2) Official transcripts verifying 288 hours of required classroom training and
(a) Verification of 4,000 hours of work experience broken down into specific work categories (300 percent rule applies) and
(b) Completion of a board-approved 32-hour training program (may be taken after application is approved).
OR
(3) Verification of 8,000 hours of work experience obtained outside of Oregon, broken down into specific work categories (300 percent rule applies), and completion of a board-approved 32-hour training program (may be taken after application is approved).

Copy of high school diploma, GED or equivalent
Copy of apprenticeship completion (if required by license type)
Experience qualification documents (if required by license type)

Examination Information

2 hours 28 question open book. Upon approval, a list will be provided outlining approved exam material.
