Description

A person who has received formal training in prehospital and emergency care, and is licensed to attend any person who is ill or injured or who has a disability. Police officers, firefighters, funeral home employees and other persons serving in a dual capacity one of which meets the definition of "emergency medical services provider" are "emergency medical services providers" within the meaning of ORS 682.

Duration

Every 2 years, initial not to exceed 30 months

Renewal Information

Shall be valid until June 30 of each odd-numbered year, unless sooner revoked or suspended. The initial licensing period may not exceed 30 months.

Duplicate License Requirements

Provider prints their own license on the eLicense website.

Prerequisites and Requirements

Prerequisites

Must be at least 18 years of age, submit proof that the applicant received a high school diploma or equivalent or a degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Required Documentation

Completed application, non-refundable fee, submit proof of successfully completing an approved course, submit proof of passing the required cognitive and practical examinations, consent to a criminal background check, meet all requirements for that level as established in OAR 333-265-0000 through 333-265-0023; Demonstrate proof of current NREMT Paramedic certification.

Examination Information

Continuing Education Requirements

Complete 48 hours of continuing education as specified in Appendix 1 or complete all requirements for NREMT Paramedic re-registration.

A license will be issued within three (3) weeks of submission of complete application.
