Description
Oregon credit unions are chartered under the Credit Union Act, Oregon Revised Statute 723. The application must have a field of membership of occupational, associational, or community charter; formation procedures are in the statute.
"Credit union" is a cooperative, nonprofit association, incorporated under the laws of this state, for the purposes of encouraging thrift among its members, creating a source of credit at a fair and reasonable rate of interest, and providing an opportunity for its members to use and control their own money in order to improve their economic and social condition.
