Reckless operation and other offenses frequently occur on our waterbodies. Help keep the water safe for everyone, and report a bad boater -someone who's violating marine laws and behaving recklessly.

There are also the discourteous boaters -who impede safe launching by tying up at a boarding float or anchoring within 100 feet or less of a boarding float. As weather warms and fish runs take off, this behavior can be "nipped in the bud."

The Marine Board partners with 32 county Sheriff Offices and Oregon State Police to enforce boating laws. When you report a bad boater, we contact law enforcement for you.

Pictures also speak 1,000 words, so submit them if you can to marine.board@state.or.us. In the subject line, state "Report a Boater."

Keep an eye on details. The more information you provide, the better chances of catching the offender. Include OR#, description of the vessel and occupants, and other characteristics along with the observed behavior.

Thank you for being an advocate for courtesy, etiquette and boating safety!

(For Multnomah County boaters, Portland Parks & Recreation also has Park Rangers on staff. You can also file a report by calling 503-823-1637, 7-days a week from 8 am to 9:30 pm)
